What is Structural Analysis
Structural analysis is an engineering branch that deals with the study of the behavior of structures, such as buildings, bridges, towers, dams, and other. The main objective of structural analysis is to determine the stresses, strains, deformations, deflection that occur within a structure when subjected to various loads i.e. dead loads, live loads, wind loads, earthquake loads.
Structural analysis involves the use of mathematical equations, computer simulations, and physical testing to predict and analyze the performance of a structure under different conditions. The process involves the following steps:
- Modeling: A model of the structure is created, typically using software such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Staad pro. or CAD tools.
- Analysis: The model is subjected to different dead loads, live loads and the resulting stresses, strains, and deformations are calculated.
- Design: Based on the results of the analysis, modifications are made to the structure to ensure that it meets the required safety and reinforcement is calculated.
